Customization in Commercial Cooling
This project explores how commercial refrigeration systems can be redesigned as modular infrastructure, enabling visual customization without compromising performance, reducing waste, and improving customer perception in retail environments. While refrigeration units are essential to daily operations, they are often treated as purely functional objects, overlooking their visual and experiential impact within a space. Many businesses attempt to modify these systems to align with their interior design, but these solutions are typically inconsistent, costly, and can introduce maintenance or operational issues. This project proposes a modular facade system that allows businesses to adapt the appearance of refrigeration units through interchangeable panels, supporting aesthetic flexibility without requiring permanent modification. By balancing operational reliability with visual integration, the system aims to create a more cohesive retail environment, strengthen customer trust, and extend the lifecycle of existing infrastructure through adaptable, low-waste design solutions.
