Artificial Nature
My work explores the idea of artificial nature, specifically the juxtaposition of everyday experiences of nature with digitized environments that are vivid, compelling, and visually intensified. I became interested in this through spending time immersed in virtual realities such as games and movies, where environments are often highly saturated. As a result, the natural world around me began to feel muted and bland in comparison to its digital counterparts, so my aim was to portray this shift in perception through my design work, which has manifested into a series of posters and prints as well as abstracted-nature lamps.
Digital media increasingly shapes how we see and interpret the world, often prioritizing heightened visuals over subtle, natural experiences. By examining this contrast, the work encourages designers and viewers to question how visual saturation influences perception, attention, and our relationship to the natural environment.
