An End to DoomScrolling?
The purpose of this research study is to examine and observe doomscrolling as it relates to residents living in Chicago. Specifically, how engagement-focused digital interfaces and the constant consumption of negative and/or overstimulating content influence one’s attention, emotional regulation, and productivity, specifically, how Chicago residents interact with digital platforms. Doomscrolling will be generally defined as prolonged and continuous exposure of negative and overstimulating content that is being pushed by digital platforms. The aim for this project is not to actively bring behavioral change but to bring awareness to how overwhelming and influential doomscrolling can be.
