Consumerism in Black Communities
In minority communities many Black Consumers buy name brand clothing, there is something about the marketing & presence of the brand that makes the consumer want to associate with the value or pretentiousness of it.
"Wearing Your Wealth" looks like buying expensive clothing that isn't a tell to your financial situation. This mindset doesn't support the community plus It allows for room to struggle in creating generational wealth. These brands know exactly what to sell to profit off this consumer and smaller brands that support the community struggle in creating that same value/pretentiousness.
My thesis explores the idea that this same pretentiousness and value can be redirected to smaller brands for half the cost.
