Reconnecting vegetarians to their Polish heritage
With the rise of vegetarian and vegan diets in recent years there is still a misconception and even at times condemning of the diets. Vegetarian and vegans have a hard time in a society that has been eating meat and animal byproducts for centuries. Not all restaurants have a vegan option and not every family is willing to accommodate for the lifestyle. This theme brings attention to the Polish American vegetarians who can feel disconnected from their culture due to it’s heavy inclusion of meat. Interviewing both side of the debate will allow me to understand what changes can be made to existing food to make it accessible to everyone. I want to introduce Polish cuisine to my audience and the benefits of not eating meat and how everyone can incorporate a little more vegetables and other sources of protein into their daily life. Vegetarians should not feel excluded from their traditions due to the lack of food for them.
