Social Stories are short, visual stories that help explain social interactions and behaviors to those with autism.
Although used by all ages, many Social Story templates, books, and apps are targeted towards children and child-centered situations. This lack of resources for older-aged adolescents leaves their caregivers to be dependent on professionals to create them, as caregivers also lack the tools to learn how to write Social Stories.
Ginto is a tool for both caregivers and autistic adolescents to create social stories together. Teaching caregivers important story components and involving the learner in a tactile avatar-making activity, Ginto aims to bring involvement, personalization, and a sense of ownership to the process of creating Social Stories.
